I have a bit of a dilemma as a reviewer. I like to be honest about what I like and don't like about a product. I work out regularly, and always engage in some time doing stationary stretches (yoga-style) toward the end of my workout. I used these new straps and they are the kind that I like to use: they don't stretch and they allow me to choose a set my foot (or whatever body part) in a particular slot which can vary as I become more or less flexible (…yeah, as I age; it does happen…). So, I have used these new straps for the past few days and was perfectly satisfied with them. They are made of nylon, and perhaps the 'natural' me would have preferred cotton, but these were lighter in weight and I made my choice. One-inch wide, 75 inches total, 10 loop settings. Fine. $12.95. Not terribly expensive.
But I looked at other products from this same company, presumably a company from China. They also make similar straps which are 1.5 inches wide, and 86 inches in length, PLUS they come with a carrying case, PLUS they have padded handles, AND they number the loops, making it easier for you to remember whether you are decreasing or increasing flexibility during a particular fixed stretch compared to prior sessions. Perhaps, I thought, these other ones are arguable a "better" strap. The price, depending on the color, could be higher than these ($19.99 or $16.99) or –here's the confusion– lower than these ($9.99 for one color). Honestly, color doesn't matter to me when I am working out.
So, these straps work absolutely fine and there's absolutely nothing wrong with them. If you want to use them for static stretching, they will do the trick. BUt why could I possibly have gotten a better deal on one color of longer, wider (and possibly more-durable-in-the-long-run) straps for a lesser price? Note that these straps are made by the same company, so I spent some time trying to figure out why they are priced differently and have tiny differences in features. Oh: this one has a herringbone pattern and the others don't. Does that matter? I doubt it.
So, you have an abundance of choices from even a single manufacturer. I simply don't know what differences make a difference in their ease of use or durability. You will be able to get a decent stretch using this strap or another strap from this company or probably a dozen other companies. The best made strap in the world or the best "deal" strap won't matter if you don't use the strap to maintain or improve flexibility. That's your real choice.
