I hate carrying a yoga mat around – those rolled ones. Everyone is going to ask me about: where do you exercise, what kind of yoga, how long have you been doing yoga. PLEASE do not come and watch me. Do not offer to join me, don't tell me about your experiences doing yoga. I do not want you to see how absolutely awkward I am with my own being. Oh those beginner classes, like microbeginner. Like half the time I'm in baby pose or child pose or cow pose I have it all wrong – yea that's a day in the life of this akward human being right here. And the last thing I want is for a colleague, coworker, student or parent of a student to talk to me about it and come watch me somewhere.
This mat solves the whole issue. Instead of a roll up mat, it folds up nicely so it fits in a regular bag and no one has to know about the lesson I go to where I know no one, I use a fake name and I don't stay and talk after. Don't look at me when I am awkward.
Basically – I took this out of the bag and initially it had that powerful rubber gym mat smell that can be quite overwhelming. Luckily after being out of the plastic bag for a few minutes it lost the smell. I opened the mat and laid it out. It is far less slippery than my more expensive and conspicuous yoga mat I am desperate to retire. I am very thankful for that. It also feels more cushioned even though it is the same thickness as my other mat. I think it is perhaps actually made of rubber?
